Brian Bucher, a 34 year employee, passed away May 22, 2022. We miss seeing him every day. He loved working for Bruce Ewing Landscaping, and it showed! Brian was something of a fixture at our office. You could count on him to be at work every day we were open, and some of the days that we were closed. Brian started working for Bruce in the summer when he was in high school. Who knew that would be the start of such a long relationship…

BRIAN KENT BUCHER, 55, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Charles and Helen Bucher. He graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1985, earned a degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting Specialist from Phoenix Institute of Technology, and earned a degree in Landscape Technology from the University of Saint Francis. He worked for Bruce Ewing Landscaping for 34 years. Brian is survived by son, Brayden Bucher, two siblings, Cindy Bradburn and Matthew (Beth) Bucher; niece, Lauren; and nephews, Luke and Logan.
Jason Royse spends his time managing our crews including scheduling and routing, and hiring as well as data entry for these folks. His hobbies include gardening, hanging out with his dogs and cats, playing and watching sports. His favorite plant is the live oak tree. Jason graduated from Indiana University in 2007 with a Business Management degree.
Rob Ewing (President) grew up working summers with Bruce in this business and has definitely learned things from the ground up. After graduating from Ball State University in Entrepreneurship / Small Business Management in 1992, he began his official career with the company. Rob spends his time helping to manage the business including budgeting, pricing and structure set up. He also works on sales and design. Rob enjoys good humor, family, friends, sports cars, and life!
Leslie Ewing Kitch (Vice President/Secretary) started watering plants for Bruce at the age of 13 and has never looked back! After graduating from Indiana University with a Journalism degree in 1988 she worked for the Miami Herald Newspaper, and then at Fort Wayne Newspapers in sales. After the birth of her first child in 1992, she started working for Bruce again. And now she spends her time overseeing and managing the seasonal décor aspect of the business, as well as customer relations, client invoicing and much more. When she’s not working, Leslie enjoys spending time at her lake cottage, with her husband and kids, reading, and being outdoors with her hands covered in dirt.
Mike Kitch (Vice President) worked four memorable summers under the direct supervision of Bruce Ewing. After earning a B.A. of Marketing from St Joseph’s College and a three-year stint at North American Van Lines, Bruce asked him to return and start a mowing division. Thirty years later, he is a shareholder and helps Rob and Leslie manage and run the business. He is proud to have two children working with him to carry Bruce’s dream forward to another generation. While not working, Mike enjoys spending time with family and friends at the Lake, on the golf course or travelling.
Jessica Johnson is the nursery manager, and also works in data entry and as an office assistant. She handles a variety of landscape maintenance clients and oversees their properties too. Her hobbies include reading, live music, road trips, vintage shopping and visiting wineries. A few of her favorite plants include Paeonia, crocosmia, lespedeza, anemone and helleborus.
Landry Linn graduated with a degree in Horticulture from Purdue University in 1978 and began his career working with Bruce Ewing at that time. He meets with clients and designs landscape plantings and hardscapes. He also handles many landscape maintenance clients and oversees their properties as well. Landry has seen many changes in this industry over his career, and he is a wealth of knowledge! He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, camping, visiting historical sites and Purdue sports. Also enjoys teaching online classes at Ivy Tech to help future landscape designers and learning new design theories himself. Landry also likes learning and installing new plantings using native shrubs, perennials and grasses.
Bill Houser started in the irrigation industry 32 years ago. He is a member of the Irrigation Association, Certified in Pumps (PSN Pump Service Network), has a non-sanitary license and a backflow license. Bill takes care of all the irrigation needs for our clients. It is incredibly helpful to have such a qualified and experienced person on staff. When Bill is not working he enjoys playing golf.
Sue Fogler joined Bruce Ewing Landscaping part-time the year her twins started Kindergarten in the Spring of 1997. She graduated in 1979 with a BS in Accounting. Her role is to keep the cash flow going. AP, AR receipts, Payroll, and provide financial reports are some of her responsibilities. Her hobbies include; watching sports (football and volleyball), baking and crafting and spending as much time as possible with family and friends. She loves the Naked Lady Lily Flower (Amaryllis Belladonna). They are a very fun late summer, soft pink flower that pop up all over out of nowhere! She also enjoys all the annuals her husband Bruce plants and tends to yearly! “Working at Bruce Ewing Landscaping, I enjoy nature’s beauty daily!”company that will work together under one roof.
Paul Sermersheim’s role is designing landscape projects and presenting them to potential clients. He also handles many landscape maintenance clients and oversees their properties as well. In his free time Paul enjoys camping, hiking, anything outdoors, traveling, family & friends, concerts. His favorite time of year is fall. Paul graduated from Purdue University in Landscape Design & Horticulture.

From very early in his childhood, Jim Saxton had a fascination with and talent for all things plant-related. In 1960 Jim started working in florist industry and his talent took him in the direction of Landscape Design.
After extensive and notable horticultural and design experience, Jim founded Saxton Nursery (originally in New Haven, Indiana), in 1975. His imagination, horticultural knowledge and sense of architecture collectively have earned Jim and the Saxton Group a reputation for landscape designs of excellence, quality and aesthetic applicability in the Midwest and beyond. The vision and talent of Jim Saxton guided the Saxton Group to a place of prominence in the landscape and nursery industries. In 2009 Jim and the Saxton Group joined forces with Bruce Ewing Landscape to expand services available and produce an elite landscape
